The China-New Zealand Year of Tourism, to be celebrated in 2019, has a new website.
The website is largely aimed at tourism businesses and organisations wishing to build stronger relationships with China.
Visitors to the website can:
- see what events are on as part of the year
- apply to include their own event in the calendar
- apply to use the China-New Zealand Year of Tourism logo
- download resources such as posters and information on catering to Chinese visitors.
Event manager Katherine MacGregor is encouraging anyone interested in being involved with the year to get in touch.
“While the Year of Tourism was born out of an agreement between the New Zealand and Chinese governments, it is really an opportunity for businesses of all types, and particularly those involved with tourism, to focus on the Chinese market and build capability in that space,” Ms MacGregor says.
“We’ve had organisations approach us with all sorts of ideas, from large scale events such as Te Papa’s Terracotta Warriors exhibition to local community lantern festivals. New Zealand Chinese Language Week 2019 will also have a tourism theme.
“I’m more than happy to talk to anyone who either has an idea or who’d like to get involved but is not quite sure how. Our contact details are available on the website.”
