Lower Cuba Street and Dixon Street play host to this year’s expanded Festival, exploding on stage on Saturday 23 February and Sunday 24 February.
Hours have been expanded to cater for the needs of families so you can now enjoy the delights of over fifty food stalls over both days.
This year the Festival hours are: Saturday 5pm till Midnight and Sunday 12 midday to 12 midnight.
Being the year of the Pig come and see the bigger than life size Pig themed Lantern sponsored by Heller’s.
Enjoy the hundreds of other lanterns on display including a huge Chinese Arch, a 5-metre-long colorful dragon lantern, the Western Union Kiwi or the Amazing Peacock.
There is plenty to do from Panda Party Riddles, face painting, a trivia hunt to find the Kiwi to win Prezzy cards, and over fifty cultural acts and performances over the two days delivered on two stages.
New to this years’ experience is RJs Fairytale Wonderland with product samplings and more.
This years’ event will also showcase over 2,800 children lanterns from our regional primary schools. These will be on display in shipping containers positioned on Dixon Street. The public can vote for these primary school creations at: www.wellingtonnightmarket.co.nz/lantern-festival-2019
The winning creation earns the child and a guardian return flights on Singapore Airlines to Singapore.
Voters can also win as they go in the draw for return flights for two from Wellington to Melbourne on Singapore Airlines.
